From recently watching Helvetica, the indepent documentary about the progression of typeface, I feel like I have more of an appreciation for type. Before the film I never viewed type as essential to making or breaking a design or even as an independent art form, just as different styles of expressing letters. I now realize moreso how different typefaces have their own individual personalities that add or to an images' impression on its viewer or in some cases can even make the viewers impression. Helvetica as a typeface is everywhere around me as I go through my day and Iv'e never paid attention. Helvetica, even though its overused, represents modern culture.
