Presented above this post are the 10 final marker comp thumbnails I chose for the favorite ride promotion poster of the AMC Delorean, a car I chose for the original "Favorite Ride" Project. Out of the 10 thumbnails I chose, the majority of them had readability issues between the text and the dark grays and blacks within the background of the layouts. For some of the thumbnails I intended for the text to be a color besides black but I couldn't portray it on the thumbnails precise enough, so i just stuck with black text for the first stage of the promotion poster process. The thumbnail I chose as the best was the one resembling an Andy Warhol piece. I like it because conceptually it goes with the theme of the car being something of the past with a futuristic look. Within the thumbnail I drew the cars as plain white outlined figures without any detail, because I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to portray the cars. I know that I want to add some kind of effect to them or maybe just apply a different color overlay to each individual car but I wasn't 100% sure, so I left the car open for suggestions. The type appears to be a problem within the thumbnail because it cant fully be read, but I think the majority of this problem is bleeding that took place within the marker comp. Im pretty sure readability of text will not be a problem once the layout make it to the next step. As for the message I wanted the poster to portray, I just wanted the various colors to grab the viewers attention and allow the message of the text o be straight to the point: new car, release date, where to see it, and a simple catch phrase.
