2 page Dance Magazine Spread

Above is the marker comp I did 4 the 2 page magazine spread about dancing, targeted toward a female audience.In the final production I will have to make the olympic rings more transparent in order for the text to be readable. I will also rearrange the heading text so that it covers the blank space on the top of the second page. and finally I will scale the couple down a little bit to make their entire bodies fit in the space without touching the borders. Overall this comp took a couple of hours but as always its better to get as most problems out the way in the construction of the comp than in the final production. ; )

Marceline Walt Disney---Dummy Marker Comp

Above is the MArker comp I did for the Marceline, MO booklet/pamphlet. I tried to get it to look as close to how its actually going to look post production so it took me a few hours to complete.  The cover consist of a color cut out of Walt Disney In front of a map of Missouri with the Clariton County of MArceline being highlighted with the help of Tinkerbell. The text is everything given in the text .rtf. The 2 inside pages are for thee Attractions and Festivals  listed as happening within Marceline. The background for these pages is a picture of Pinnochio with his nose extended across both pages and an outline of the sate of Missouri on top of his nose with MArceline highlighted.  The back cover is a picture taken at a Disney anniversary celebration at Disney WOrld, consisting of Mickey Mouse's phantasia hat with a spotlight on it. Even though it took a long time to do, I think that  actually comping everything out gave me a better idea on what to do in the next step, and what might work and what might not work both visually and technically.  

 

Ballroom Dancing Thumbnails

Above are the 5 final thumbnails I chose for the 2 page magazine spread about Ballroom dancing being considered as just a hobby or as an olympic sport. I tried to think what was appealing for the female eye when designing the layout and I think for the most part I achieved that look. The layout that was chosen to go to the next step of production is the one with the silhouette of a female dancer. In the next stage I will replace the type I represented as purple with conventional black type, replace the silhouette with the actual image of a ballroom dancer, and I will take the olympic rings out of the interior of the dancer and place them along the background of the entire layout very transparent, so not to conflict with the text.

Delorean Promotion Finale'

Above is the final production of the My Favorite Ride Promotion Poster. The final product is pretty close to the marker comp, with minor changes to the text used and the placement of the text. The main problem I had with trying to achieve the Andy Warhol effect on the car was manipulating the cover overlay to make the car appear with monochromatic values while still being abel to recognize that is had different colors before it was introduced to gray scale. I had a few problems in the actual print out process, due to a miscommunication of correct paper type. But other than that my production art was pretty much how I wanted it to look. and the call to action was to get the viewer to want to know more and "go to a local amc dealer near you".

Delorean Promotion Marker CoMp

Above is the marker comp completed for the Favorite Ride Promotion using the image I created of the AMC Delorean. The marker comp took close to a couple of hours to finish because I was trying to get it visually as close to what I wanted the final print out to look like as possible. Im not quite sure on the final line of text that appears, and if it will make it into the final production, but if I cant think of anything catchier.. it will remain.

Chili pot finale'

This poster for the Chili Cook-Out was a lot easier to put together as a production file that it was in the marker comp stage. All I had to do was import the image I drew of the actual chili pot, and the text supplied in blackboard. The main issue I think I have with this poster is my drawing had a couple of problem areas within the top lip of the pot to appear more cylindrical and give it depth.  The text was too much of a problem to me, but I could have made the text reading what the event was "Chili Cook_off", larger and bolder to make it stand out more, even though it was suffice in the original that was turned in.
